PUSH Buffalo, as a member of national movement formations Climate Justice Alliance and People’s Action, a steering committee member of the statewide NY Renews climate justice coalition, and a founding member of the NY Energy Democracy Alliance, has organized and advocated with frontline communities for a just transition to a regenerative economy that’s puts people and planet first. Working with Our City Builds, PUSH and its base of grassroots leaders call on local elected officials to commit to the following:
Respond to demands from the WNY Youth Climate Council, that have been endorsed by PUSH and local organizations, to formally declare a climate emergency and commit to implementing the climate goals and equity mandates of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA)
Launch a public, democratically accountable, and inclusive climate justice action planning process aligned with the goals of the CLCPA
Formally endorse the NY Renews climate jobs and justice recovery campaign, including passage of the Climate and Community Investment Act during the 2021 legislative session in NYS
